Hitachi Energy’s partnership with China dated back to more than 100 years ago. The company set up its first office in Beijing in 1979. After over 40 years of development, Hitachi Energy has deeply rooted in China with a full range of business activities, including R&D, consulting, sales, engineering, manufacturing, and services. It has 17 local companies and 27 branches across the country.
Hitachi Energy has actively involved in multiple milestone projects in China with its leading technologies and solutions, including Xiangjiaba-Shanghai, the first ±800 kV ultra-high-voltage direct current (UHVDC) link of State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC); Changji-Guquan, the world’s first ±1,100 kV UHVDC transmission link with new records on voltage level, transmission capacity and distance; Sutong tunnel, the world’s first UHV GIL to transmit power under the Yangtze River; the world’s first VSC-HVDC grid in Zhangbei, and Baihetan-Jiangsu, the world’s first series hybrid UHVDC project. The company has also achieved significant progress in sustainable solutions, participating in China’s first “zero-carbon” substation built by SGCC, the nation’s first deep-sea floating wind platform in Hainan Province and collaborating with SGCC to deploy the country’s first 420 kV SF6-free Dead Tank Breaker and world’s first 550 kV SF6-free Gas-Insulated Switchgear.
Hitachi Energy’s advanced digital solutions enable customers to overcome complexities brought by the energy system, to enhance grid capacity, and to optimize energy efficiency management. Its leading Lumada Asset Performance Management (APM) has served multiple grid and industrial customers in China. Additionally, the company has also cooperated with grid operators, power generation companies, and energy enterprises to develop virtual power plant (VPP). In 2022, the company provided VPP operation system to Huaneng (Zhejiang) , which marks the first one in China that enables regular interactions with power grids and provides frequency regulation ancillary services.
Hitachi Energy fully supports the Belt and Road Initiative and joins hands with Chinese enterprises to go out. By far, the company has worked together with over 400 Chinese companies on some 1,000 projects in more than 100 countries and regions.
