Hitachi Energy announces €4 million investment into new Service Center in Dublin to strengthen Ireland’s grid resilience

Press Release | Dublin, Ireland | 29.06.2026 | 2 min read

To meet the growing electricity demand, Hitachi Energy has announced a new Service Centre that will open in Dublin North Park in Autumn 2026

  • The investment will support Ireland’s grid infrastructure in managing its surging electricity demand, rapid data centre growth and rising renewables integration.

  • The new Centre is expected to support significant growth already underway across Hitachi Energy’s operations in Ireland.

Hitachi Energy is investing €4 million ($4.7 million) into the development of the new Service Centre in Dublin North Park, scheduled to open in Autumn 2026 – strengthening grid resilience across Ireland.

Ireland’s electricity system is undergoing rapid change. Ireland’s energy system is facing a surging energy demand driven by digitalization and the expansion of energy-intensive data centers. With a significant percentage of Ireland’s electricity now coming from intermittent renewable sources, ensuring long‑term resilience and security of electricity supply is a national priority. This further increases the need to strengthen lifecycle service to modernizing the country’s aging energy infrastructure.

To address these evolving needs, Hitachi Energy is establishing a new Service Centre in Dublin North Park that will expand Ireland’s capability to modernise critical grid infrastructure, including transformers, switchgear, breakers, and digital services. Working closely with key customers, the new Service Centre reflects Hitachi Energy’s long‑term commitment to innovation, partnerships, and sustainability.

The Service Centre will include dedicated customer training and a customer operations center to support utilities, industries and data centers.

This milestone contributes to the company’s broader $1 billion USD global investment in expanding service capacity and portfolio and developing over 5,000 additional service experts worldwide.

The facility also underscores the company’s continued growth in Ireland through ongoing investment in its people and infrastructure. This investment will enable the creation of more jobs and support the company’s plan to expand its operational capabilities in Ireland.

The new Centre is designed to enhance operational efficiency through optimised workflows, modernized equipment, and a strong focus on HSE excellence and industry standards.

I am pleased to welcome today’s announcement by Hitachi Energy. The company’s investment in its new Service Centre speaks to Ireland’s reputation as a centre for innovation and skilled talent. Furthermore, Hitachi Energy’s new facility will help bolster the reliability and resilience of the grid for utilities, industries, and data centers nationwide.

Minister for Enterprise, Ireland, Peter Burke

We are very excited to continue building our long legacy in Ireland, with the opening of our new facility marking 80 years in Ireland. The new Service Centre will play a vital role in creating an energy future that is resilient, sustainable, and integrated. This is crucial for long‑term energy security and will significantly enhance operational excellence in Ireland. The investment decisions show our commitment to key customers and partners in helping to deliver the critical infrastructure needed to meet energy targets and in offering new jobs in Ireland.”

Laura Fleming, Country Managing Director UK & Ireland, Hitachi Energy

Hitachi Energy’s investment is a strong vote of confidence in Ireland’s transition to a more resilient and sustainable energy future. The new Service Centre not only will create highly skilled jobs and support innovation but will also play a vital role in strengthening Ireland's electricity grid to meet growing demand and the increasing integration of renewables. I congratulate Hitachi on their 80-year presence in Ireland and look forward to their continued partnership.
