​Hitachi Energy and SMA reach a major milestone: 3,000 transformers delivered and counting​

While the relationship between the two companies began over a decade ago, the collaboration gained momentum in 2018 when SMA sought a partner to help providing top-notch transformer solutions across its global markets. Hitachi Energy emerged as the ideal choice, offering deep industry expertise and a strong track record in transformer technology. 

As a pioneer in the development of transformers for the solar segment, Hitachi Energy has played a crucial role in enabling SMA’s large-scale projects. Designed specifically for solar inverter applications, these transformers efficiently convert and integrate renewable energy into the grid. By 2019, the companies celebrated the successful testing of their first prototype, which laid the foundation for the first major order of transformers. Over the years, the partnership expanded, and in 2024, the production milestone of 3,000 units was reached.
