Hitachi Energy is a global technology leader advancing a sustainable energy future for all. We help power homes, keep factories running, and support critical infrastructure such as hospitals and schools. We welcome you to bring your passion, energy, and diverse perspectives to a team that believes in a simple truth: Diversity + Collaboration = Great Innovation.
Our Indian Operations Centre (INOPC) is a competence center with more than 3,000 skilled engineers supporting tendering, engineering, planning, procurement, functional system testing, installation supervision, and commissioning. Over the last decade, INOPC has evolved into a major engineering hub serving more than 40 countries across multiple energy sectors. The team supports the Transformers, Grid Integration, Grid Automation, and High Voltage business units and has successfully executed engineering and commissioning activities for projects in more than 80 countries.
As a Senior Project Engineer within Hitachi Energy’s Power Quality Solutions (PQS) Electrical Engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical design and engineering solutions for PQS projects. The role covers end-to-end engineering execution, including MACH hardware control and protection system design, IED-based conventional control and protection systems, protection configuration and testing, auxiliary AC and DC system design, MV/LV switchboards, battery systems, junction boxes, LV cable sizing, and cable estimation. You will work closely with global engineering teams, customers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure technically compliant, cost-effective, and reliable project delivery.
· Own and drive electrical engineering deliverables for multiple or complex PQS projects, ensuring delivery within agreed scope, schedule, budget, and quality targets.
· Design and execute projects in line with customer specifications, PQS/FACTS standards, and applicable global standards such as IEC, ANSI, and IEEE.
· Lead engineering activities for control and protection cubicle design, plant design, LV auxiliary systems, cable estimation, junction box design, and related electrical design deliverables.
· Support tender engineering by reviewing customer requirements, preparing technical inputs, estimating engineering scope, and contributing to cost-effective proposal solutions.
· Review and approve scope, budget, schedule, and technical deliverables within the assigned area of responsibility.
· Perform risk and opportunity assessments and ensure timely implementation of mitigation and improvement actions.
· Prepare work plans, engineering estimates, and execution strategies for assigned projects and work packages.
· Deliver cost-effective, high-quality engineering solutions that meet customer requirements, contractual obligations, and applicable safety standards.
· Coordinate with customers, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders; participate in project meetings and present specific engineering topics as required.
· Provide technical guidance, design review support, and mentoring to junior engineers to improve quality, consistency, and execution efficiency.
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
· 10–14 years of experience in substation secondary engineering, EPC design, EPC project execution, HVDC control and protection hardware design, or related electrical engineering domains.
· Hands-on experience with E3 or similar electrical design tools.
· Knowledge of ETAP, IEC configuration tools, protection systems, and power system studies will be an added advantage.
· Strong understanding of control and protection systems, auxiliary power systems, LV/MV switchgear, cable engineering, and electrical drawings.
· Ability to independently own engineering tasks from concept through completion with a strong focus on quality, safety, and timely delivery.
· Good stakeholder management skills with the ability to coordinate across global teams, customers, contractors, and internal functions.
· Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous improvement.
