R&D Electrical Transient Simulation Engineer

The opportunity

Join our Next Generation Grids Transformers team in Lodz and shape the future of energy. As an R&D Engineer – electrical transient simulations, you will work on cutting-edge medium voltage transformer and power converter technologies in a dynamic, international environment.

You’ll be part of a collaborative global team, contributing to the full R&D lifecycle—from concept to testing and product launch, ensuring that our solutions meet technical specifications, market demands and quality needs. This role offers hands-on experience, technical growth, and the chance to make a real impact in the energy transition.

How you will make an impact

  • Develop and implement innovative design rules for transformer and converter applications to mitigate interaction failures.

  • Create and validate medium- and high-frequency models to predict and analyze system behaviour as well as ensure optimal performance

  • Collaborate with customers during the specification stage to ensure that designs meet the requirements and performance expectations.

  • Provide technical support to quality departments.

  • Study overvoltage phenomena as well as the effect of transient events on electrical systems.

  • Utilize advanced simulation tools, such as Finite Element Method (FEM) and Matlab, to analyze network resonance and reconfiguration.

  • Take ownership of work packages and deliver results using a structured approach

  • Contribute to intellectual property and risk management activities in R&D

Your background

  • MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, ideally with experience in R&D within a business environment

  • Strong background in distribution system and transformer transient mathematical analysis, modelling, and simulation.

  • Good knowledge of grid-connected power converters and switching behaviour, ideally complemented with knowledge on average and small-signal modelling

  • Good knowledge of MATLAB and Python, complemented by experience using dedicated electric circuit simulation tools, such as Simulink, PLECS, LT Spice, EMTP

  • Experience using finite element simulation tools (Ansys Comsol) would be a plus

  • Strong communication skills in English

  • Analytical thinking and ability to work independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary and international teams

We are committed to full transparency and compliance with all legal requirements, ensuring that every candidate knows exactly what to expect at each stage of the recruitment process.
