The opportunity:

Project Engineering focuses on designing, communicating, and implementing an operational plan for completing an engineering-based project including: Preparing designs, project controls and specifications, schedules, cost estimates, production, transportation, installation, testing and/or commissioning of new infrastructure, facilities, equipment, etc. Monitoring progress and performance against the project plan; taking action to resolve operational problems and minimize delays. Identifying, developing, and gathering the resources necessary to complete the project. May include preparing engineering standards, designs and work specifications; developing project schedules, budgets and forecasts; and selecting materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors An Entry Professional (P1) applies broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education. May require the following proficiency: Work is closely supervised. Problems faced are not typically difficult or complex. Explains facts, policies and practices related to job area.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Engineering Documentation: Prepare Key Line Diagrams, Protection Interface, and Feeder Block Diagrams.

  • Tender Review: Analyze tender documents and technical specifications and prepare Design Intent Documents.

  • Protection SLD: Develop Protection Single Line Diagrams showing principles, relays, meters, and Functional Design Standards/Descriptions.

  • Signal and Trip Matrix: Create signal lists, trip matrices, logics, and interlocks. Review vendor drawings and documents.

  • Schematic Diagrams: Prepare schematics for interface equipment in Control & Relay Panel schemes.

  • Circuit Diagrams: Develop circuit diagrams for new and existing setups, especially for retrofit projects.

  • Cable Management: Prepare Cable Block Diagrams, relay ordering information, Cable Schedules, and BoQ estimations.

  • Wiring Lists: Create lists for wiring, termination, and labeling for panel manufacturing.

  • Drawing Modifications: Identify and modify existing drawings using standard markups.

  • Interface Knowledge: Essential knowledge of Primary Equipment, Bay Controller Units, SCADA, RTU, and Teleprotection.

  • Auxiliary Power Systems: Design Low Voltage AC Panels, DC Panels, Auxiliary Transformers, Battery & Charger Sizing, and ACDC Cable Sizing.

  • Secondary Designs: Expertise in AIS & GIS secondary designs.

  • Coordination: Work with various departments for design progress and completion.

  • Risk Assessment: Conduct technical risk and opportunity assessments.

  • Estimation: Estimate engineering hours and validate inputs.

  • Specifications: Prepare Functional Design Specifications, Technical Specifications, General Arrangement Drawings, Circuit Diagrams, System I/O Schedules, Test Specifications, and O&M literature.

  • Project Configuration: Use Hitachi energy configuration tools and software.

  • Testing Platform: Set up procedures and reports for Factory Acceptance Testing.

  • Project Management: Provide progress information to Project Managers and ensure timely delivery of project milestones.

  • Design Review: Participate in design review and lessons learned processes.

  • Team Contribution: Contribute to the team's success and development of work processes.

  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Living Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.
