Head of Legal Benelux

The opportunity

Hitachi Energy is seeking an accomplished Legal Counsel to serve as Head of Legal for our Belgian and Dutch entities, supporting all business units across the Benelux. In this senior role, you will provide pragmatic legal counsel on a broad range of commercial, corporate, regulatory, and integrity matters, ensuring that contracts and operations comply with applicable laws, internal policies, and local statutory requirements. Reporting to the Head of Legal, Europe, you will translate global legal strategy into effective local guidance, act as a trusted adviser to country leadership teams, and help build capabilities across the region. The preferred base is Brussels or Rotterdam with hybrid working; occasional domestic and international travel is expected.

How you’ll make an impact

• Advise on complex tenders, EPC contracts, and project execution.

• Lead negotiations and run internal risk reviews.

• Implement robust dispute avoidance and manage litigations.

• Ensure corporate governance for Belgian and Dutch entities.

• Oversee local compliance, including data privacy and trade.

• Conduct integrity investigations and ensure timely remediation.

• Design and deliver legal and integrity trainings.

• Contribute to senior leadership and boards locally.

Your background

• Master of Law from an accredited university.

• 7–10 years’ post‑qualification experience in relevant industries.

• Strong record in complex corporate and commercial transactions.

• Proven experience with claims, disputes, and litigations.

• Fluent in Dutch (C1), English (C1), basic in French (A2/B1)

• Confident communicator with sound judgment and influence.
