Are you ready to lead high-impact energy infrastructure projects and help shape the future of sustainable power? At Hitachi Energy, we’re seeking a skilled and driven Installation Manager to oversee the on-site installation of HVDC systems and high-voltage substations (345–500 kV). This is your chance to be at the forefront of the energy transition, working on utility-scale projects that power communities and industries.
 

This role is based in Southern California (approximately 10 minutes from Adelanto, California, and 1 hour from Ontario, California.) for the duration of the project—perfect for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and is ready to make a tangible impact. You’ll lead a diverse team, coordinate with contractors and internal stakeholders, and ensure every detail meets our high standards for safety, quality, and performance.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Lead all on-site installation activities for HVDC and high-voltage substations.

  • Coordinate with civil, commissioning, logistics, and quality teams to ensure seamless execution.

  • Guide and support installation contractors to meet safety, quality, and schedule goals.

  • Monitor project progress and proactively address risks and delays.

  • Represent Hitachi Energy in client meetings and inspections.

  • Mentor and support junior team members and new hires.

  • Oversee material handling, documentation, and equipment readiness.

  • Providing regular updates and reports to senior leadership.

  • Evaluate and provide feedback on the construction schedule to ensure timely project delivery.

  • Assist the HSE team in ensuring compliance and safety standards are met.

  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience as an Installation Manager or equivalent.

  • Experience with Substation testing and commissioning is highly valued.

  • Proven experience with HVDC or high-voltage substations (345–500 kV).

  • Strong knowledge of high-voltage equipment assembly, installation, and testing.

  • Experience with utility-scale projects is highly valued.

  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.

  • Formal electrical or mechanical apprenticeship, trade, or degree.

  • Foster a collaborative team environment.

  • Strong knowledge of P6, MS Excel, Procore, BIM/ACC (final user).

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
