Project Quality Manager for STATCOM/Power Quality Projects

The opportunity

Ensures support to the project management team regarding all quality related issues on projects to support its objective achievement in terms of quality, supplier & subcontractor quality, and customer satisfaction. Leads the implementation, maturity assessment and improvement of all processes along the entire value chain to improve customer satisfaction and increase profitability in a safe working environment across the project. 

A Specialist Professional is a recognized subject matter expert in job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Responsibilities typically include Managing large projects or processes with limited oversight from manager. Coaching, reviewing and dele- gating work to lower-level professionals. Problems faced are difficult and often complex.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Cooperating with the customer on Project Quality issues and ensuring ownership of actions to resolve it. Enabling and coaching all project team members to evaluate risks, problems and solutions from a quality and customer/stakeholder point of view. Analysing transferability of experience between pro- jects as well as planning Quality Assurance activities to reduce all forms of risk. Collaborating with the project team to develop schedules, estimates, forecasts, and budgets for quality activities. 
  • Applying project quality procedures and plans and ensuring appropriate implementation and compli- ance from the project team. Certifying effective internal controls system (project, supply, site) is in place to verify that processes continue to meet customer and stakeholder requirements, validating that control plans are applied and effective in mitigating prioritized risks. Performing audits on project de- livery and ensuring the use of Quality data analytics from all aspects of the operation to identify risks, failures and nonconformances within the local business, its suppliers and customers. Ensuring that appropriate corrective and preventive actions are taken, and solutions are managed to closure. 
  • Act as an advocate for the Customer by ensuring the Voice of the Customer is represented within the project for all quality matter during execution. Represent the company in terms of Quality in front of the customer. Interface with the customer on Project Quality issues and ensure ownership of actions to resolve it. Enable and coach all project team members to evaluate risks, problems and solutions from a quality and customer/stakeholder point of view.  
  • Set up the Project Quality Plan/ Quality Management System for the project, embedded in the Project Execution Plan, to merge and match customer requirements, Power Grids (PG) policies, regulations and processes, and local regulations. Collaborates with projects to develop schedules, estimates, forecasts, and budgets for quality activities. Documents general and special conditions for use on all project quality documents, project quality procedures, and project quality plans and ensure compliance. Analyses Lessons Learned (LL) / Transfer of Experience (ToE) from previous projects and plans QA activities to reduce risks. 
  • Works with project management teams to prevent mistakes and defects during project execution, provide confidence that Hitachi Energy and customer quality requirements will be fulfilled, establish customer and stakeholder needs/expectations, drive the utilization of process management across the project to deliver consistent results, minimizing variation and maximizing efficiencies. Utilize Power Grids (PG) aligned systems and tools to assist project functions during execution to meet operational and customer expectations throughout their lifecycle.  Applies project quality procedures and  plans  and  ensures  appropriate implementation and compliance by the project team.  
  • Ensures effective internal controls system (project, supply and site) are in place to verify that processes continue to meet customer and stakeholder requirements. Validates that control plans are applied and effective in mitigating prioritized risks. Ensures effective quality control during project execution in the form of reviews, inspections, non-conformances and audits in accordance to internal & customer contractual requirements. Pro-actively facilitates the resolution of issues related to quality for a successful project delivery.  
  • Performs audits on project delivery and ensures the use of analytics of Quality data from all parts of the operation to identify risks, failures and nonconformances within the local business, its suppliers and customers. Ensures that appropriate corrective and preventive actions are taken, and solutions are managed to closure.  
  • Drives quality culture by influencing and engaging the project team for being responsible of their job’s quality. Support the team to adapt to incoming changes, moving from firefighting to preventive mode.  Being quality ambassador within the project team and with the customer. The driving process is compliance and adapting improvements in processes. Educate project members in quality processes and 
  • routines.  Coordinates quality related work in the project, follow-up and act on deviations and changes.  Analyses quality workhours and monitors project staffing plans and project quality work-hour expenditures, including site. Cooperate with functional managers and HR department in project staffing. 
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

  • A university degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field. - Electrical or Mechanical or Industrial, Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • Candidate must have 15 years of experience as a Project Quality Management professional in reputed Engineering/EPC companies comparable to Hitachi Energy business portfolio. Having experience in managerial roles will be an added advantage.
  • Proven experience in leading and developing global programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing change in a dynamic, international, and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills and data-driven decision-making. Exceptional problem-solving and communication skills
  • Broad knowledge of organization / area of operations. Work independently and with a mindset of work as a team
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage a large number of stakeholders
  • Candidates with GB or higher will have added advantage or preferred.
  • Fully comfortable in the Microsoft suite (Excel, Access etc…) and Office 365 collaborative tools.
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required
