How you’ll make an impact   

• Design, develop and maintain software solutions for training, deploying and managing the lifecycle of Machine Learning and Generative AI solutions.

• Propose and work on ideas and concepts of new approaches to solving optimization or control problems with business impact, turn them into prototypes and verify them.

• Identify, propose, develop and deliver AI copilots and workflows that support engineers in their daily work and bring measurable business value.

• Apply state-of-the-art software engineering practices across the full development lifecycle (configuration management, static analysis, unit testing, CI/CD).

• Where necessary, development and release of software to integrate specific AI/ML solution into products / tools / processes.

• Design data fabric / pipeline architectures to manage data for use in machine learning, artificial intelligence and automation applications.

• Collaborate with a global team of researchers and engineers, both within the Hitachi Energy HVDC Research and Development department, and with other teams across the Hitachi Energy organization to identify and solve real-world challenges.

• Share your knowledge and experience with other team members.

Your background

• Master's degree or equivalent industrial experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or any related field.

• Programming experience in C#, Python and related libraries and tech stacks.

• Software engineering expertise across the whole software development lifecycle like design, implementation, testing (unit/integration), code quality, CI/CD, release management.

• Ability to conduct all phases of a software project – conceptual work, design, prototyping and verification.

• Working with structured and unstructured databases (SQL, Postgres, TimescaleDB, NoSQL).

• Experience in architecting performant, scalable and extendable software solutions.

• Experience with Azure OpenAI and Azure AI Services to design and deploy AI solutions.

• Good knowledge of Generative AI, the underlying models and architectures and associated technologies.

• Hands‑on experience applying Machine Learning / Data Science and Generative AI (copilots, prompt engineering) to solve practical problems.

• Knowledge of data privacy, IP handling, security for AI tools, and data.

• Willingness to take an interdisciplinary approach, working with experts from different domains, and integrating AI/ML approaches into processes.

• Experience demonstrating your ability to work in a team, your creativity, and your motivation for self-development.

• Excellent written and spoken communication in English.
