The opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Account Manager – Eskom to join our team. In this role you will be developing, implementing and managing the accounts strategy focused on growth, profitability and customer satisfaction. You will be coordinating the sales activities and managing resolution of specific customer problems.

How you’ll make an impact            

  • Participating in the development of sales strategies for accounts by providing the customer’s current business and long-term plans.
  • Defining and proposing sales targets and growth margins for the account and ensuring their achievement with a structured follow-up process.
  • Leading the development and implementation of the account plan include designing the executive relationship strategy and coverage plans, prioritizing the opportunities, identifying a target for each solution element.
  • Proposing recovery plans in case of potential order shortfalls.
  • Establishing and developing account relationships based on a defined strategy. Acts as focal point for problem resolution and monitors customer claims. Plans, facilitates and conducts customer negotiations.
  • Developing, maintaining and sharing detailed knowledge of the customer’s business strategy, purchasing behavior, organization, decision-makers, customer business drivers, economic trends, and competition.
  • Selling products/solutions/services to customers, focusing on volume, mix and profitability targets for assigned Business Unit.
  • Monitoring competitors’ activity with each account ensures that appropriate response strategies are formulated and implemented.
  • Creating added value for the customer by ensuring a coordinated sales approach (e.g. frame agreements).
  • Communicates details in accordance with Hitachi Energy supply, offering and strategy.
  • Coordinating the use of internal or external resources (e.g. technical, advertising, and marketing) to provide value added services to accounts.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with MBA
  • Minimum relevant experience needed and number of years – 15 years’ experience in power utility industry, at least 10 in an Eskom-type environment
  • Complexities and technical knowledge
  • Deep understanding of the power utility environment, particularly Transmission and Distribution
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with C-suite executives as well as function leads in Eskom
  •  Ability to take ownership and handle many complex problems at once, with good interaction skills and coordination capabilities of many different role players, both external and internal.
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English is required.
