COMBITEST RTXP 12 - Test switch with signalling contact for Protection IEDs and Process Interface Units

The RTXP 12 test switch is especially suited for use where testing requires disconnection of the instrument transformer’s secondary or control wiring. When the test-plug handle RTXH 12 is inserted into the test switch, preparations for testing are automatically carried out in the proper sequence, i.e., closing the signaling contact, opening the tripping circuits, short-circuiting and then disconnecting current transformers (CTs), opening voltage (VT) circuits, and making relay terminals available for secondary injection.

The test switch and test handle eliminate the risk of accidentally opening the CT secondary and tripping the circuit breaker. Their presence also ensures that the auxiliary supply to IEDs or merging units is not interrupted during test preparation and restoration.

Before accessing the device to be tested, RTXP 12 and RTXH 12 conduct a fail-safe sequential closing of the signaling contact, disconnection of the trip circuits, short-circuiting of secondary CT circuits, and disconnection of the secondary VT circuits. A latching feature also allows the relay to stabilize with actual CT currents and VT voltages when the test-plug handle is withdrawn, preventing inadvertent tripping before the trip circuits are restored.

RTXP 12 mounts rigidly to any standard rack system or RHGT equipment frame with the help of a rack mounting kit, and it also can be flush-mounted vertically or horizontally using a flush-mounting enclosure.
