Hitachi Energy has secured a significant order from Siemens Mobility GmbH to deliver 360 RESIBLOC® Rail onboard traction transformers for upgrading the S-Bahn München rolling stock in the Bavarian region, Germany. These transformers, an essential system component to the trains’ operations, will enhance energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
As part of an extensive project to upgrade Munich’s S-Bahn, in which the Free State of Bavaria is investing more than two billion Euros, Siemens Mobility will deliver 90 new “XXL” S-Bahn trains with a length of over 200 meters. This will provide capacity for over 1,800 travelers per train. The first trains are scheduled to be delivered from the end of 2028 on.
They will set innovative standards in public transportation with the latest digital features, comfort, environmental protection, and operational safety, addressing the growth in passenger numbers and supporting the region’s mobility energy transition. Hitachi Energy is proud to contribute to that with its sustainable and efficient technology solutions.
