GARIP Eco – RIP Bushing

Empowering the Switchgear of Tomorrow

A next-generation RIP transformer bushing designed for GIS systems operating without SF₆.

As the power industry moves towards more sustainable technologies, gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) is evolving to operate without SF₆— which was the industry-standard insulation gas but with high global warming potential. In its place, utilities and OEMs are adopting eco-efficient gas mixtures that demand change and updates from every component in the system.

The bushing, a critical interface between transformer and switchgear, must adapt to this shift. GARIP Eco is Hitachi Energy’s response: a next-generation resin-impregnated paper (RIP) bushing built specifically for SF₆-free GIS systems operating with alternative gases.

Born from the trusted GARIP product family and re-engineered for new performance realities, GARIP Eco is pressure-qualified, gas-compatible, field-tested, and ready for what comes next.

Why GARIP Eco?

GARIP Eco has been developed to meet the technical challenges posed by SF₆-free GIS systems. New insulation gases such as C4-FN-based mixtures introduce changes in dielectric behavior, thermal loads, and internal operating pressure—requiring bushings to be reassessed, not reused.

Where traditional designs stop, GARIP Eco begins.

It is engineered to perform reliably under new gas chemistries and elevated internal pressures, while retaining the durability, moisture resistance, and insulation quality associated with the trusted GARIP bushing range.

Key Benefits of GARIP Eco

Qualified for Eco-Gas GIS Systems GARIP Eco is purpose-built and qualified for operation in GIS that uses alternative insulation gases instead of SF₆. It has undergone rigorous testing to validate dielectric performance and thermal behavior in new gas environments.
Built on Trusted GARIP Technology As part of the GARIP family, GARIP Eco maintains proven benefits: high moisture resistance, excellent thermal conductivity, and robust dielectric strength. It represents both innovation and continuity of the trusted GARIP Bushing.
Pressure-Qualified for Modern Demands With internal pressures in SF₆-free GIS reaching up to ~11 bar, mechanical integrity and sealing become critical. GARIP Eco is engineered to withstand high-pressure conditions, including full-type testing and long-term simulation.
Field-Proven GARIP Eco has already been deployed in multiple SF₆-free GIS projects—including offshore substations and utility pilots in Europe. These field applications validate its readiness for wider adoption.
Advanced Sealing for Gas Retention Sealing systems are designed to prevent leakage and withstand gas-specific aging mechanisms. GARIP Eco supports gas tightness and long-term stability—helping operators ensure system integrity.
OEM-Compatible and Modular Available across a broad voltage range and with flexible connection designs, GARIP Eco can be integrated into both new GIS installations and retrofit scenarios—whether using Hitachi GIS or third-party platforms.
