Hitachi Energy is at the forefront of the energy transition by collaborating with customers and partners to support worldwide efforts to reduce the impact of greenhouse gases  such as sulfur hexafluoride (SF₆).

SF₆ has been the norm in the industry for decades, but that will soon change. Even though SF₆ has excellent insulation capabilities, it has a high Global Warming Potential (GWP), and its life-cycle management requires careful handling. ​​

As the first big step forward, we launched our EconiQ™ high-voltage portfolio in 2021 to phase out SF₆ and enable the industry to transition to eco-efficient solutions. Since then, EconiQ has achieved multiple world-firsts in SF₆-free high-voltage technologies and is becoming widely adopted across continents.

A new era of EconiQ is coming. In CIGRE Session 2024, we have unveiled two truly iconic EconiQ additions that demonstrate how the scalability of our technology plays a fundamental role in the effective elimination of SF₆.
